Unintentional doom cake! This cookbook includes and entire chapter on apple cake. It’s enough to just break your heart. And one on date cakes as well — please stop, you’re killing us with sadness. And of course a very depressing chapter on extremely Catholic “Party Beverages.”
There’s also a table entitled “Common Causes of Cake Failures,” and I was thrown for a moment when I saw that one of the causes was “Batter not even in pan.”
Ah, I get it — your batter is not distributed evenly in the pan. For a moment there I was like, “Girl, of course your cake failed: you put an empty pan in the oven. I’ll explain further on our way to the emergency room.”
Excuse my terrible cell phone pic. I was not about to pay $6.99 for this trash — I still haven’t finished trying all the recipes in Mo’Nique’s cookbook.
